ID Card (BUCard)

Newly admitted students receive their ID Cards (BUCard) during University registration.

The BUCard is both a student ID and a payment card. As a payment card, it can be used at the cafeterias on University campuses. If you experience any problems in using your card, please apply to the BUCard Office, located in the Computer Center (bucard@boun.edu.tr). To use the BUCard to make payments, you will need to add funds to the card.

• Adding Funds to Your BUCard

  Presently, you can use the alternative banking channels provided by Garanti Bank. You do not need to be a client at Garanti Bank to use the branches of the bank or its ATMs.

  • Garanti Branch Offices: State that you would like to make a university payment to Boğaziçi University and add funds to your BUCard.
  • Garanti Internet Banking: Go to Payments -> Institution -> University -> Boğaziçi University -> BUCard, then enter your student number and the amount of funds.
  • ATM: Go to Payments -> Other Payments -> University Payments -> Boğaziçi University -> BUCard, then enter your student number and the amount of funds.
• BUCard Refunds
  Graduation

  Select the BUCard refund option while you are on the Application for Graduation page on OBIKAS. Any requests for refunds must be made while you are applying for graduation. Refund requests made at a later date will not be processed. If you owe the University any money, the funds on your BUCard will be used to settle your debt.

  Leaving the University

  Select the BUCard refund option while you are on the Application for Ex-matriculation page on OBIKAS. Any requests for refunds must be made while you are applying for graduation. Refund requests made at a later date will not be processed. If you owe the University any money, the funds on your BUCard will be used to settle your debt.

  Other

  Apply to the Department of Budget and Performance with a “BUCard Refund Request Form.” The refund you requested will be transferred to the bank account provided on the petition form within 30 workdays. Only foreign students who do not have a bank account in Turkey may receive the requested refund from the Accounting Office.

• Loss

  Should you lose your ID Card (BUCard), notify the BUCard Office. To obtain a new ID, you will need to apply to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs with a petition and;

  a. Provide a declaration of loss from a police station or a newspaper ad, in cases including extortion, theft, and natural disaster, or

  b. If a newspaper ad or declaration of loss cannot be provided, deposit 10 Turkish Lira to the Boğaziçi University Account at Garanti Bank, Account No: 303-6299943. (The student’s name-last name-number, and the term “ID fee” must be written on the bank receipt.)

  The funds on the lost BUCard will be automatically transferred to the new BUCard.
